Range Hood Filters - Tips On Making Them Work The Best

Today most range hoods will either be fitted with mesh or charcoal filters. Which ever kind of range hoods filter you have installed it is there to do one job only. That is that it is there to ensure that all grease and other small particles and pollutants are unable to gain access back into the room whilst the hood is turned on.

Certainly the range hood may not be the most pretty of all the appliances you will find in a kitchen today it is still an essential tool and is necessary if you want to ensure that all unwanted smells that appear in the area or your stove are removed whilst you are cooking.

But when it comes to choosing a hood for your range or stove it is best if you choose one which allows you to clip the filters in and out easily. This then means that they can either be replaced or washed very easily as well.

Today most hoods that come with a mesh filter will need to be cleaned on a regular basis and generally it should be every 6 to 12 months that you carry this out. In order to remove these filters you just need to unclip it and then take it down. Next you should place it in a bowl or sink full of warm soapy water and if you want include a little bit of ammonia within it as this will help to remove the grease more easily from it. Plus it is preferable that you do not scrub it using abrasive materials as this will actually dull the shine on the metal. After around 15 minutes of soaking it you should then rinse it thoroughly to see if all the grease has been removed and if not then place it back in warm soapy water for some more time (say about 10 minutes). Then again rinse thoroughly and then leave to dry.

However if you happen to have a hood which contains charcoal filters these should be changed regularly around every six months. By carrying this out you will ensure that they will remove all the unwanted odors, smoke, steam and pollutants that will appear when you are cooking.

Today if you want you can now buy range hoods filter monitoring systems. These are built into the range hood and will monitor the filters and indicate to you when they need to replace them. Certainly this then means that you would have one less thing to worry about. Or if you want why not spend a little bit more money on your system and buy a hood that cleans itself and contains no filters. This particular type of hood allows you to program them to clean themselves and so helps your kitchen to stay fresh and clean without too much effort from you.
