There are four different types of Zephyr kitchen hoods that are available to be purchased today. They are either wall mounted, island or ceiling along with those that are placed under a cabinet and are ductless.

However there are many advantages and disadvantages to be gained from using anyone of these kitchen hoods and below we will take a look at just what these are.

1. Wall Mounted

These hoods are mounted directly on to the wall above the kitchen stove or range. Not only do they look quite dramatic but they can also act as a focal feature within any kitchen. The only real disadvantage to using such a hood within your kitchen is that they take up a lot of space above their range or stove where an additional cabinet could be placed instead. This type of hood should only be used in a kitchen where there is ample space for someone to place one.

2. Ceiling (Island) Mounted

These are mounted on the ceiling and will usually hang down around a few feet above the actual range or stove. Again this can look very dramatic and probably even more so than say a wall mounted one does. Unfortunately just like the wall mounted hood these hoods do not allow for extra cabinets or shelving to be placed in the area where the hood is located.

3. Under Cabinet

This particular type of hood is mounted underneath a kitchen cabinet which is located just above the range or stove. The main advantage this type of hood has over the above two is that it allows you to have additional storage space but will still provide you with ventilation for the kitchen. The only real disadvantage of these particular types of hoods is that they do not look as dramatic as either a wall mounted or island hood does.

4. Ductless

This particular brand of Zephyr kitchen hood does not actually vent cooking smells out of the kitchen to the outdoors. But instead what they do is recirculate the air around the kitchen instead. Therefore it is essential that you have windows open when using this type of hood in your kitchen. This is probably the biggest disadvantage for this type of hood but is the best option for those who have a restricted budget or the layout of their kitchen prevents them from installing any one of the above Zephyr kitchen hoods that have been mentioned above.
